Gen Alpha is failing and doomed to fail

Skibidi, Sigma, Slay, Gyatt, Fanum, Ohio, rizz, mew, alpha, drip, and many more are all common gen alpha slang, but what do they mean exactly? Kids online these days are very crucial to us because as a society we are creating and influencing views on Gen Alpha a lot more than we realise.

Skibidi is a non-sensical word that is very cringe-worthy and can be considered modern-gen alpha surrealist humor. It is a 23-season series about a fictional war between the toilets and the camera heads which is very graphic and violent and kids are eating it up. The series is animated in a game engine called Garry’s Mod where you can animate things including the Skibidi toilet. The Skibidi toilet series has about 17 billion views in total (as of 8/05/2024) (10.7 billion from shorts) with all the episodes combined and the highest viewed one garnering 300 million views in 3 months. This extremely viral series is the most watched series on YouTube of all time being the single most viewed series yet. This phenomenon has never occurred before and will probably never occur again as this legendary series has so many fans and supporters.

Some games have also created a lot of gen alpha slang like Roblox because this game is for children and a lot of speech is censored by turning any words the moderation doesn’t like into tags like “kill” to “####”. Roblox players use slang in Roblox for a different reason from Gen Z and Alpha because of the censorship of speech by the Roblox moderators to make it safer for children. This moderation makes it more unsafe as kids learn slang which is unique to Roblox. This is bad because the parents do not understand the new words they are learning but every kid that plays Roblox probably knows all of these bad slang words. Roblox is a very addictive game as it is made up of games with a 70.2 million player count daily average as of the third quarter of 2023 with 18.9 million being from the EU and 15.7 million in the USA. The average play time on Roblox is 2.4 hours per day with 60% of players being under 16. This addictive game is very consuming for the child’s mind. The 2.4 hours per day average per player is so surprising that I did not believe it and had to fact-check it 4 times before I believed it. This data is real and it’s unfortunate.

The Gen Alpha phenomenon is one of the most bizarre things in history, from kids buying water bottles as a status symbol or buying expensive $500 makeup and skincare from Sephora. This period of history will certainly be studied and marvelled for millennia to come. Things like the Stanley Cup, Sephora, Glow Recipe, and Retinol are all things kids are obsessed with nowadays. Skibidi toilet, sigma, Stanley cups, and Sephora have as many Google searches as the number one celebrity of our generation Kim Kardashian with all of them attracting more interest than her. Is a common denominator in all of these that all these viral things start with the letter “S”? Gen alpha is the first generation to grow up with this technology and the internet which can destroy our attention spans.
